Spring Volunteer Opportunities

Spring is here and we are gearing up for a great field season at the CLC. We have a number of upcoming volunteer opportunities that we wanted to share with you. As a non-profit, the CLC relies on volunteers! No experience is needed; we’ll provide you with all the training and tools needed.

• Haskap pruning – we have a lot haskap bushes that are in need of pruning! Learn different methods of haskap pruning and help enhance our haskap production!
  • Last week of April/the first week of May
• High Tunnel construction – our research high tunnel needs its walls. Help us cover the high tunnel in plastic. Come summer, we can pay in cantaloupe 🙂
  • Last week of April/the first two weeks of May
• Spring Food Farm – facilitate an ag themed station for Grade 3 and 4 students and help plant the No-Till Educational Garden!
  • Wednesday May 28th – morning, afternoon or all day
• Garden planting – help us get our gardens planted!
  • Late May/early June
• Haskap netting – help us net our haskap orchard before the birds eat all the berries!
  • Mid June

Ongoing opportunities to help in the gardens are available throughout the spring, summer and fall. Or if you’re interested in helping with School Tours in the spring and fall, don’t hesitate to reach out!
