School Tours
The Conservation Learning Centre’s School Program offers students in Grades 1 through 12 practical, hands-on activities that reinforce the foundational and learning objectives set out in the Saskatchewan Education curriculum. Since 1994, over 32,000 students have participated in activities based at the Centre.
School tours of the Conservation Learning Centre begin and end in our outdoor classroom. School tours help students make connections with their local environment and where their food comes from. Featured activities and topics include wetland dipping in the spring, planting and harvesting vegetables from our No-Till Educational Garden, farming and agriculture in Saskatchewan, an educational corn maze in the fall, a boreal fur display, crafts and games, and more!
Details
Dates: May to June, and September to October
Length: 1-2 hours on-farm depending on the teacher’s preference
Time: Morning session: Book anytime from 9:00am to 11:30am
Afternoon session: Book anytime from 1:00pm to 3:00pm
Alternate time arrangements can be made for schools travelling further distances. Feel free to stay late or come early for a picnic lunch in our outdoor classroom. Please indicate this at time of booking.
Cost: FREE admission, limited travel bursaries available upon request at time of booking
Language: Tours are available in both French and English
Limit: 40 groups per season
Notes
Chaperones: Each class requires a student-to-chaperone ratio of approximately 10 to 1. Additional adult chaperones should accompany your class for younger grades.
Facilities: Schools tours at the CLC take place entirely outdoors and will proceed ‘rain or shine’, unless the weather is severely inclement. Your tour will begin and end in our outdoor classroom, which provides basic shelter from the elements. Portable toilets and a handwashing station are available.
Appropriate attire: Please ensure your students dress appropriately for the weather. Footwear should be appropriate for walking and running activities.

If more than one class from your school is planning to visit the Conservation Learning Centre, we will seek to accommodate your group to save on transportation costs.
